Biography
Dr. Zuotai Zhang is currently a professor in Southern University of Science and Technology of China. He gained his PhD from Royal Institute of Technology (Stockholm, Sweden). He then spent two years as a Research Associate at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, USA. Dr. Zhang’s research interest mainly focuses on understanding the issues of thermodynamics and kinetics of high temperature reactions, which are relevant for recycling valuable elements from metallurgical slags, waste heat recovery from hot slags, reusing the energy or municipal solid wastes such as fly ash, coal gangue, sludge et.al, and these are thought to bridge the gap between fundamental research and industrial application. He has published more than 110 peer-reviewed papers and around 30 conference papers, and applied 23 patents. Dr. Zhang also serves as board of review members for Sci. Reports, Metall. Mater. Trans B and E, AIST Trans and J. Innovative Engineering, and serves as Vice-Chair of Asian Coal Ash Association and Solid Waste Subcommittee of Chinese Ceramic Society of China.
